Spain expels Israeli scientists from solar energy competition [09/26/09] "Spain has expelled a group of Israeli scientists from a state-funded solar energy competition because they are based in occupied areas of the West Bank, it said today. The decision to expel the team from the Ariel University Centre of Samaria from Solar Decathlon Europe, an international competition involving 20 universities, has provoked angry reactions in Israel. The team was one of 20 finalists in a competition to design solar-powered housing that is part-sponsored by the US energy department ..."

U.S. Government Negligently Allows Mental Handicapping of Children by Toxic Exposure [09/25/09] "Over the last decade, the drinking water at thousands of schools across the country has been found to contain unsafe levels of lead, pesticides and dozens of other toxins. An Associated Press investigation found that contaminants have surfaced at public and private schools in all 50 states — in small towns and inner cities alike. But the problem has gone largely unmonitored by the federal government, even as the number of water safety violations has multiplied. The contamination is most apparent at schools with wells, which represent 8 to 11 percent of the nation's schools. Roughly one of every five schools with its own water supply violated the Safe Drinking Water Act in the past decade, according to data from the Environmental Protection Agency analyzed by the AP ..."  Note:  They knew about it, they knew about the hazard, and they negligently allowed it, and it has affected people throughout their lives.

ICC may try IDF officer in wake of Goldstone Gaza report  [09/25/09] "A senior prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague said Monday that he is considering opening an investigation into whether Lt. Col. David Benjamin, an Israel Defense Forces reserve officer, allowed war crimes to be committed during the IDF's three-week offensive in the Gaza Strip this winter. ..."  Note: The U.S. is already moving to block this.

Insane Joe Lieberman Invokes Nazis To Argue For More Troops In Afghanistan [09/25/09] "One of the chief proponents for increasing U.S. force levels in Afghanistan argued on Thursday that to pursue any lesser strategy would be the equivalent of appeasing a theoretical rebirth of Nazism in the aftermath of World War II. Senator Joseph Lieberman (I-CT), one of Congress' most hawkish members, made the odd historical analogy during an interview with Fox News' Neil Cavuto. Urging President Barack Obama to follow the advice of his military commanders on the ground - who have called for an additional 40,000 U.S. troops -- the Independent-Democrat dismissed the notion that there was any parallel between the Afghan war (now in its eight year) and Vietnam. "Unlike Vietnam," said Lieberman. "Afghanistan is a place from which America was attacked on 9/11. And if we pull out or try a strategy that doesn't work, those who attacked us will regain that country. Unpublished studies question whether seasonal flu shot raises swine flu risk [09/24/09] "Canadian data are raising concerns about whether it's a good idea to get a seasonal flu shot this season. Drawn from a series of studies from British Columbia, Quebec and Ontario, the data appear to suggest that people who got a seasonal flu shot last year are at higher risk of catching swine flu. "It is difficult to speak about a study that has yet to be published, however, as this is an important issue involving the subject of seasonal influenza and the fast-moving global pandemic of 2009 H1N1 influenza it is important to note the scientists at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have not seen this effect in systems we have reviewed in the United States," spokesperson Joe Quimby said by email ..."

U.S. Pledges to Quash Goldstone Recommendations [09/24/09] "The Obama administration will not allow the Goldstone report recommendations on Israel's conduct in the Gaza war to reach the International Criminal Court. ..."  Note: They have already reached the international community, though. Not one of Goldstone’s 37 factual assertions has been rebutted [09/22/09] "In all the criticism of Goldstone’s report there has been ABSOLUTELY no rebutting of the facts it contains. It set forth 37 specific incidents and if not rebutted as a matter of fact and law, we must assume them to be true. We must remember that if you can not challenge the facts, attack the messenger. The critics have changed the debate from the facts to the messenger and the press has done nothing to reverse this.  ..."  Note: This will be precisely Netanyahu's tack as he demonizes the Goldstone report at his UN address this week.  U.S. Rejects U.N. Proposal to Compel War Crimes Probes of Gaza Conflict [09/22/09] "Susan E. Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, rejected a U.N. proposal to compel Israel and Hamas, the Islamist movement that controls the Gaza Strip, to conduct credible investigations into war crimes during last winter's war in Gaza or face possible prosecution by an international prosecutor.  Note:   "We don't need a probe. God already told us Israel is good, Palestinians are bad, and Iran is to blame for it all! The bombing starts next week!" ..." 

Gadhafi points finger at Israel over JFK assassination [09/24/09] "Speaking Wednesday at the United Nations General Assembly, Gadhafi implied that Israel may have plotted to kill Kennedy in 1963 because he allegedly wanted to launch a probe into its clandestine nuclear program. “Jack Ruby, an Israeli, killed Lee Harvey Oswald,” the Libyan leader was quoted by the translator as saying. “Why did this Israeli kill Harvey? Ruby later died mysteriously. The whole world should know that Kennedy wanted to investigate the actions of the Israeli nuclear reactor in Dimona.” ..."  Note:  True.

UN Assembly: Gadhafi blasts U.N. Security Council [09/24/09] "In his first U.N. appearance, Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi issued a slashing attack on the Security Council and chastised the world body on Wednesday for failing to intervene or prevent some 65 wars since the U.N. was founded in 1945. Gadhafi called for reform of the council — abolishing the veto power of the five permanent members — or expanding the body with additional member states to make it more representative.  "It should not be called the Security Council, it should be called the 'terror council,'" he said. The veto-wielding Security Council powers — the United States, Britain, China, France and Russia — treat smaller countries as "second class, despised" nations, Gadhafi said. "Now, brothers, there is no respect for the United Nations, no regard for the General Assembly," Gadhafi said. Israel's U.N. delegation walked out on Gadhafi. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stayed on, but left before the speech ended (Remember the picture of Ahmadinejad and Bush both making that special 'sign' with their hand and fingers ... on the same side ... different teams). He railed against the "inequality" of U.N. member states, quoting from a copy of the U.N. Charter that calls for equality of nations, and then noting that five nations hold veto power on the Security Council and can block actions contrary to their interests: the United States, Russia, China, Britain and France. Speaking Arabic, Gadhafi said the use of military power was contrary to the spirit of the U.N., unless such actions are sanctioned by the United Nations. ..."  Note:  Gadhafi made valid points ... that only one individual would speak these truths openly is a sad legacy. Feds mum over legal protection for swine flu vaccine makers [09/24/09] "The federal government won't say if Canadians who suffer harmful side effects from the new swine flu shot can take the vaccine maker to court. The Public Health Agency of Canada will not reveal whether drug companies are shielded from H1N1 flu vaccine lawsuits in this country like they are in the United States. ..."   

U.S. Attorney General Holdren: "Constitution backs compulsory abortion" [09/24/09] "Obama science czar John Holdren stated in a college textbook he co-authored that in conditions of emergency, compulsory abortion would be sustainable under the U.S. Constitution, even with Supreme Court review. WND has obtained a copy of "Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment," published in 1977 and co-authored by Holdren with Malthusian population alarmist Paul R. Ehrlich and Ehrlich's wife, Ann. As WND reported, the authors argued involuntary birth-control measures, including forced sterilization, may be necessary and morally acceptable under extreme conditions, such as widespread famine brought about by "climate change." To prevent ecological disasters, including "global warming," Holdren argued the U.S. Constitution would permit involuntary abortions, government-imposed sterilizations and laws limiting the number of children as steps justified under the banner of "sustainable well-being ..."  Note: Ever notice that the folks who favor population reduction are never willing to volunteer themselves or their own families? Holdren is a nut case.

Census worker hanged with 'fed' on body [09/24/09] "The FBI is investigating the hanging death of a U.S. Census worker near a Kentucky cemetery, and a law enforcement official told The Associated Press the word 'fed" was scrawled on the dead man's chest. The body of Bill Sparkman, a 51-year-old part-time Census field worker and occasional teacher, was found Sept. 12 in a remote patch of the Daniel Boone National Forest in rural southeast Kentucky. The Census has suspended door-to-door interviews in rural Clay County, where the body was found, pending the outcome of the investigation ..."  Note: Interesting.  

India: HR manager beaten to death by angry workers [09/24/09] "Angry workers beat to death a human resources vice president after he laid off 42 employees at an auto-parts manufacturing company in southern India, police said Wednesday. Roy George was vice-president for human resources at Pricol, the auto-parts company. Some four to five workers, belonging to a union not recognized by the company, barged into his office and beat him up with iron rods, said N. Kannan, a police superintendent of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu state ..."  Note: For the minions, this is pretty easy to do, to sequentials in charge. A lot of simultaneous wish they could do this, but then again, why waste our time?

Belgium Suspends Democracy And Civil Rights Over "Swine Flu" Pandemic [09/24/09] "The Belgian parliament yesterday voted to give the government emergency dictatorial powers under the pretext of dealing with a pandemic emergency. Belgium is the first country in Europe to formally suspend democracy and civic rights and to switch over to military rule under the authority of a "a special crisis committee" that answers ultimately to WHO and the UN. WHO declared a pandemic emergency level 6 in June over the "swine flu" pandemic, allowing governments to activate "emergency measures" that suspend the operation of normal government and justice.
Earlier this summer, the Belgian Health Minister Laurette Onkelinx passed a decree allowing the police to be detailed to participate in "medical emergencies" on the mass vaccination and quarantine of the population ..."  Note: Too bad. I liked Belgium in the 1980's.

Whistleblower Sibel Edmonds' latest interview now online at American Conservative magazine [09/23/09] "Sibel Edmonds has a story to tell. She went to work as a Turkish and Farsi translator for the FBI five days after 9/11. Part of her job was to translate and transcribe recordings of conversations between suspected Turkish intelligence agents and their American contacts. She was fired from the FBI in April 2002 after she raised concerns that one of the translators in her section was a member of a Turkish organization that was under investigation for bribing senior government officials and members of Congress, drug trafficking, illegal weapons sales, money laundering, and nuclear proliferation. She appealed her termination, but was more alarmed that no effort was being made to address the corruption that she had been monitoring. ..."  

Vaccine makers spread uncirculated virus to test vaccines [09/23/09] "Also in Europe, some manufacturers have conducted advance studies using a so-called “mock-up” vaccine. Mock-up vaccines contain an active ingredient for an influenza virus that has not circulated recently in human populations and thus mimics the novelty of a pandemic virus. Such advance studies can greatly expedite regulatory approval ..."  Note: And, this is apparently the case with the 'swine flu' dynamic.  

China begins mass vaccinations for swine flu [09/23/09] "China kicked off mass vaccinations for swine flu Monday in Beijing, making it apparently the first nation in the world to start inoculating its population against the virus. ..."    Note: We will see the honesty of the post-vaccine reporting collapse as millions begin to get sick from the vaccine.

Clinton rebuffs general's warning on Afghanistan [09/23/09] "In the interview, Clinton expressed "respect" for McChrystal's assessment that the United States would likely lose the war in Afghanistan within a year without more US forces. "But I can only tell you there are other assessments from very expert military analysts who have worked in counter-insurgencies that are the exact opposite," she said. ..."  Note: What a stupid bimbo .... He was physically and verbally abused, pepper sprayed, strip-and body-cavity searched; and was accused of being a "terrorist" during his processing at the "camp ..."   

U.S. charges Obama fund-raiser in $290 million fraud  [09/22/09] "Hassan Nemazee, a fund-raiser for Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and other Democrats, has been indicted for defrauding Bank of America, HSBC and Citigroup Inc out of more than $290 million in loan proceeds, U.S. prosecutors said on Monday. The announcement follows last month's indictment of Nemazee, head of a private equity firm and an Iranian American Political Action Committee board member, on one count of defrauding Citigroup's Citibank. ..."  Note:  Here is a copy of the indictment 

Plague researcher dies of infection  [09/22/09] "A University of Chicago researcher studying the genetics of the plague bacteria died last week from an infection he may have gotten in the laboratory, officials said Saturday. The researcher, 60-year-old molecular genetics Professor Malcolm J. Casadaban, died Sept. 13 at the University of Chicago Medical Center's Bernard Mitchell Hospital. An initial autopsy showed that Casadaban "showed no obvious cause of death" except for the presence of the weakened strain of the plague bacteria Yersinia pestis in his blood, the U. of C. Medical Center said in a statement. It is not known to cause illness and has been used in some countries as a vaccine to protect against the plague. It has been approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for lab studies. He had been studying the genetics of harmful bacteria, including a strain of Yersinia pestis that lacked most of the bacteria's harmful components, the university said. Casadaban's family said they were stunned by his death, in part because he was very health conscious and had no chronic medical conditions they knew of ..." 

Utah: Annual flu vaccine drive sees lowest turnout ever [09/22/09] "The Salt Lake Valley Health Department had the lowest turnout ever for its annual flu vaccination drive Saturday. Officials were hoping to give out as many as 8,000 flu shots, but only several hundred people showed up. ... Officials were hoping to take advantage of the unusually high supply of seasonal flu vaccines, and also the public's elevated interest in the virus since the H1N1 outbreak last spring. ... "I don't think this flu is any more serious than the flu that we've had before. Every flu kills lots of people, but it's usually people who are at risk. I think those people need to get shots for sure," said Myers. The health department says it will provide another mass clinic when the H1N1 vaccine comes out. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Friday that the first doses of the vaccine may all be in nasal spray form. The CDC says about 3.4 million spray vaccines will be available in early October, but only for healthy people between the ages of 2 and 49.  ..."    Note: People are very wary of the government, 'fast track' social stuff and don't trust the system any more.

US ships arrive in Israel ahead of joint drill [09/22/09] "Expectations in Israel are that the US will deploy several Aegis ballistic missile ships - that are capable of intercepting ballistic missiles - in the Mediterranean and Red seas. Israel is already home to the advanced X-Band radar that the Bush administration gave as a farewell gift last October. Officials said it was possible that the US would decide to leave some systems in Israel following the drill to bolster Israeli defenses in face of the Iranian threat. One possibility under discussion is that Aegis ships, that carry SM3 missile interceptors, will be deployed in the Mediterranean and Red seas. NOTE: This looks less like a "routine drill" of two highly integrated military forces, and more like a pre-positioning of American military assets in anticipation of an attack on Iran. ..."

But wrapped in 264 pages of pabulum, Blago names names and identifying wiretapped conversations in a way which is sure to send a message to the politicians whose voices are allegedly recorded on the other end of the line. Less than 50 years before, in Dred Scott v. Sandford, the Supreme Court also ruled that black people were slaves - property of their slaveowners with no inherent rights whatsoever. 22 years after Jacobson v Mass., in Buck v Bell, the Supreme Court also ruled that people designated “feeble-minded” by the government could be sterilized. The fact that the Supreme Court made a ruling over 100 hundred years ago saying the government could inject people by force doesn’t make it morally or constitutionally justifiable. To stick needles in people at gunpoint by government decree is blatantly unconstitutional under any reasonable definition of basic human rights or the freedoms enumerated by the founders in the constitution itself. American Indians were rounded up and sent to death camps under legal orders, but that didn’t make it right or justifiable .... Hitler’s mistreatment of Jews, Gypsies, political dissidents, homosexuals and others who resisted government policies imposed during times of “emergency” in Nazi Germany was all perpetrated behind a thin veil of legality, but that didn’t make it right either.   Note: Remaining isolated is just fine. As for Arkansas Health Dept officials, they're Neanderthals and dangerous.  

Ex-CIA Chiefs Decry Holder Interrogator Probe in Letter to Obama [09/19/09] "Michael Hayden, shown here, is one of seven former CIA directors who asked President Obama to end a Justice Department probe of enhanced agents who used enhanced interrogation techniques on detainees. They wrote: "Attorney General Holder's decision to re-open the criminal investigation creates an atmosphere of continuous jeopardy for those whose cases the Department of Justice had previously declined to prosecute," they wrote. "Those men and women who undertake difficult intelligence assignments in the aftermath of an attack such as September 11 must believe there is permanence in the legal rules that govern their actions," the seven added. The letter was signed by former directors Michael Hayden, Porter Goss, George Tenet, John Deutch, R. James Woolsey, William Webster and James R. Schlesinger. Note: All these men are warped, dangerous people. It's requirement of the job. Lockerbie bomber disputes conviction with new dossier [09/19/09] "The man convicted of the Lockerbie bombing has released a dossier of legal papers which he claims are proof he was wrongly convicted of the worst terrorist attack on British soil. The documents, published online today by Abdel Basset al-Megrahi, show that serious doubts about the reliability of the key witness at his trial were raised independently by Scotland's official body, which investigates suspected miscarriages of justice. The dossier demonstrates that the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (SCCRC) sent Megrahi's case back to the court of appeal in 2007, after deciding that the judges who convicted him had made a series of errors about the evidence of a Maltese shopkeeper, Tony Gauci – the only witness to link the Libyan to the alleged plot. ..."  Note:  The CIA was involved with the Lockerbie incident.

4 ex-Chicago cops to plead guilty to corruption  [09/18/09] "Four former Chicago police officers implicated in the Special Operations Section scandal have made deals to plead guilty in exchange for cooperating with the investigation, a sign that the state and federal probes of one of the city's biggest police corruption scandals ever is coming to a head, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the investigation. Most of the officers who turned themselves in at a police station this morning have not previously been charged in the SOS case, but they had made deals with state prosecutors as early as 2006 to eventually plead guilty to reduced charges in exchange for their testimony. They are expected to testify at trial and have already provided grand jury testimony against former Officer Jerome Finnigan and several others who are accused of running a robbery and home invasion ring for years, acting under the guise of busting street gangs and rounding up guns...."

NYC synagogue bomb defendants may claim entrapment [09/18/09] "Four ex-convicts accused of plotting to bomb synagogues and shoot down military planes apparently will claim they were lured into the conspiracy with gifts including cash and fried chicken. Defense lawyers demanded Thursday in federal court that prosecutors turn over evidence of any payments, promises or other inducements offered by an informant who infiltrated the group. The four men are accused of plotting to destroy two synagogues in the heavily Jewish Riverdale section of the Bronx and to shoot down planes at an Air National Guard base about 50 miles north of New York City. Because the FBI was in on the plot, the bombs and missiles the men obtained were useless, prosecutors say. The men have pleaded not guilty and are being held without bail. One of them is a petty criminal who spent a day in 2002 snatching purses and shooting at people with an airgun, while three have histories of drug convictions. Theodore Green, attorney for defendant David Williams, 28, mentioned the entrapment defense, which generally claims that a person was enticed to do something illegal that he would not otherwise have done. Among the enticements the defense lawyers said they had already heard about were checks of up to $25,000, gifts to the men's families and "some kind of charge account" at a Crown fried chicken store in Newburgh, where the four men live. ..."  Note: Interesting. 

Henry Gibson dies at 73; original cast member of 'Laugh-In' [09/18/09] "On Friday, September 4, the New York City Coalition for Henry Gibson, a veteran character actor who came to fame in the late 1960s as the flower-holding poet on TV's landmark satirical comedy show "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In," has died. He was 73. ... George Schlatter, executive producer and creator of "Laugh-In," recalled that when Gibson auditioned for the show, "He came in and did a poem and a full back flip. He said, 'Is that anything?' I said, 'Be here Monday.' " Gibson "brought a wonderful warmth and whimsy and a charm to 'Laugh-In.' That went a long way to balance some of the political, satirical and bawdy humor we featured," Schlatter said.  "Henry was a sweet, gentle man. Any piece we gave to Henry took on a different shape when he read it because he infused his own whimsy and his own gentle intelligence and wit to it." In the show's famous cocktail party scenes, when the music would stop and each cast member would deliver a funny line, Gibson was a religious figure holding a teacup and saucer. "My congregation supports all denominations," he said on one show, "but our favorites are twenties and fifties.""  Note: Those were the days. 

Booga-Booga:  "Anti-Government Group" Called "Oath Keepers" Surfaces [09/18/09] "a recent report from the Southern Poverty Law Center, which called the Oath Keepers -- which claims more than 1,000 members nationwide -- a "particularly worrisome example" of a "virulently antigovernment 'Patriot' movement" that has been reinvigorated, in part, by the fact that the president is black. The center documented angry videos that had been posted on the Oath Keepers website; in one of them, a man called Obama an "enemy of the state." ..."  Note: There's something askew here in a couple ways. The Southern Poverty Law Center is a problematic institution in itself ... so this could be, in reality, all about agent provocateurs and propaganda designed to 'see' if they can stimulate public disorder in order to justify response.  But, an ever increasing problem for these people is that many people just don't give a shit any more ... remember all those military exercises which rotated around some 'fantasy' that people would be 'rioting' TO GET vaccine shots. What planet are they from? This latest crop of rabid sequentials just don't seem to comprehend common behavior here, and, they are out of touch with much of reality ... they're victims of their own 'movie'. Endgame continues.

Report: KBR employee raped by co-workers wins right to sue [09/17/09] "Employee contract developed under Cheney's tenure prevented Jamie Leigh Jones from pursuing justice. Jamie Leigh Jones made headlines two years ago when she alleged that, as a KBR employee on assignment in Iraq, she was raped by her co-workers, then imprisoned by her employer and threatened with firing. Now, Jones has won the right to sue KBR, a subsidiary of Halliburton,. As Mother Jones reports, an employee contract Jones signed -- developed during Cheney's tenure as CEO of Halliburton -- prevented her from suing the company. Instead, she was forced into binding arbitration, a process that had resulted in redressal for only three employees out of 119 who had pursued grievances against the company. Jamie Leigh Jones, now 22, says that after she was raped by multiple men at a KBR camp in the Green Zone, the company put her under guard in a shipping container with a bed and warned her that if she left Iraq for medical treatment, she'd be out of a job. "Don't plan on working back in Iraq. There won't be a position here, and there won't be a position in Houston," Jones says she was told. In a lawsuit filed in federal court against Halliburton and its then-subsidiary KBR, Jones says she was held in the shipping container for at least 24 hours without food or water by KBR, which posted armed security guards outside her door, who would not let her leave. Jones told ABC she was able to contact her father, who in turn contacted their congressman, resulting in the State Department freeing her from the container. Jones' lawsuit states that she was drugged and gang-raped repeatedly." Mother Jones notes, the former KBR employee's legal victory may have consequences beyond her own case, as binding arbitration comes increasingly under attack for being unfair to employees. "Her case may bolster pending legislation that would ban mandatory arbitration clauses in employment and other consumer contracts," Mother Jones writes. "Jones' victory comes as yet another body blow to a practice that has come under serious fire in recent months as heavily rigged against consumers ..."  Note: The rigged game is meant to conceal depravity.   

FBI Director Warns Of Soaring Health And Mortgage Fraud [09/17/09] "There's been a "drastic" increase in mortgage fraud and a "steady" uptick in health care scams, the FBI said today. The number of pending FBI investigations has shown a "steady increase." In FY 2008, FBI-led investigations resulted in over 800 indictments and informations and nearly 700 convictions. So far in FY 2009, the FBI has over 2,400 pending cases, approximately 750 indictments and informations, and almost 500 convictions. The FBI has over 100 agents assigned to more than 580 open corporate fraud investigations and is "on pace to significantly increase our production over last year." In FY 2008, the FBI obtained 160 indictments/informations. As of July 31, 2009, the agency had obtained more than 130 indictments/informations and, more importantly, 140 convictions. The efforts against corporate fraud have "netted billions of dollars in restitution ..."

The Union Plan to Control Ports  [09/17/09] "President Obama gave a corker of a campaign speech yesterday at the AFL-CIO convention in Pittsburgh, promising to deliver on his promise to ease the rules for union organizing. If you want to know what this means in action, consider the current Teamsters play to control California ports. The dispute concerns the Clean Truck Program announced in 2007 by the Port of Los Angeles to ban the dirtiest trucks from carrying port cargo. L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, a former union organizer, seized on the program as an opportunity to help his Teamster friends. Current law doesn't let the Teamsters organize independent truckers, some 17,000 of whom serve the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. So the mayor and his port authority pals wrote into their clean-truck rule a "concession program" banning harbor truck companies from contracting with independent drivers. The port would only allow "employee drivers," all of whom would be eligible for Teamster membership. ..."  Note: Control of ports also means being a partner to CIA and other nefarious factions, as well as organized crime, which makes sense .. to continue the 'Chicago way'

NBC's Ann Curry In Iran To Interview Ahmadinejad [09/17/09] "Curry's interview will air Thursday on "Today" and "NBC Nightly News" and Friday morning on "Today."  Note: Get ready for a hatchet job of an interview, very much along the lines of "when did you stop beating your wife?!?" The timing, and the re-broadcasting of this interview, is a propaganda move, most probably engineered by the producers at NBC, to make Ahmadinejad appear to be worse than the devil himself. It appears that NBC is hoping that such an interview can assist shaping US public opinion toward favoring a US/Israeli-led attack on Iran. And remember: any good television editor can take an interview like this, and turn it any which way they please, with some judicious cutting.

Swine flu death rate similar to seasonal flu: expert [09/17/09] "The death rate from the pandemic H1N1 swine flu is likely lower than earlier estimates, an expert in infectious diseases said on Wednesday. New estimates suggest that the death rate compares to a moderate year of seasonal influenza, said Dr Marc Lipsitch of Harvard University. ..."  

FDA Approves Vaccines for 2009 H1N1 Influenza Virus  [09/16/09] "The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced today that it has approved four vaccines against the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus. The vaccines will be distributed nationally after the initial lots become available, which is expected within the next four weeks. “Today's approval is good news for our nation's response to the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus,” said Commissioner of Food and Drugs Margaret A. Hamburg, M.D. “This vaccine will help protect individuals from serious illness and death from influenza.”... The vaccines are made by CSL Limited, MedImmune LLC, Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics Limited, and sanofi pasteur Inc. All four firms manufacture the H1N1 vaccines using the same processes, which have a long record of producing safe seasonal influenza vaccines."  Note: Hogwash. Sen. Rockefeller: No Way Will I Vote For The Baucus Health Bill [09/16/09] "Following up on his This Week appearance where he promised to fight on for the public option, Sen. As one top Democrat told me, the fundamental problem is that Democrats “are being asked to support a bipartisan bill that doesn’t have bipartisan support.” The compromise without the cover. Meanwhile, Republican Olympia Snowe's office just told me that the Senator is not ready to sign on to the Baucus draft. He will introduce it tomorrow without her support. But Snowe intends to keep negotiating and working with Baucus through the mark-up next week. The Swiss analysts said the previous tape was almost certainly faked, despite US claims to the contrary. CA: Danny Pang Dead: Financier Under Investigation Dies [09/14/09] "Danny Pang, an Orange County financier accused by federal regulators of defrauding investors out of hundreds of millions of dollars, died Saturday. He was 42. Pang died at about 5 a.m. at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, Supervising Deputy Corner Larry Eslinger said. Pang pleaded not guilty in July to federal charges of evading currency reporting laws. The case had been set to go to trial next week, but was delayed until next August. Pang, a Taiwanese immigrant, is accused of bilking investors in his $4 billion firm by falsely portraying returns as coming from investments in timeshare real estate and life insurance policies of seniors. Prosecutors said he in fact he ran a Ponzi scheme, using money raised from newer investors to pay earlier ones. Robert P. Mosier, a court-appointed received in charge of Pang's companies, said in court documents that Pang managed his investments as a "personal piggy bank" to fund a lavish lifestyle, including spending $35 million on a fleet of jets, $1 million on a cruise for employees and $1.5 million on a China vacation for his staff. In a separate civil lawsuit, the SEC alleged Pang and his companies have been engaged in the fraudulent offering of securities for at least five years, raising hundreds of millions of dollars from investors mostly living in Taiwan. In one case, investors were presented with a forged $108 million insurance policy to support a false claim that an investment was guaranteed, while the actual insurance policy was valued at $31 million, according to the SEC. ..."  Note: Another one bites the dust.

AP: 2010 Election Trouble Brewing For House Dems [09/14/09] "Despite sweeping Democratic successes in the past two national elections, continuing job losses and President Barack Obama's slipping support could lead to double-digit losses for the party in next year's congressional races and may even threaten their House control. From New Hampshire to Nevada, House Democrats also will be forced to defend votes on Obama's $787 billion economic recovery package and on energy legislation viewed by many as a job killer in an already weak economy. Add to that the absence of Obama from the top of the ticket, which could reduce turnout among blacks, liberals and young people, and the likelihood of a highly motivated GOP base confused by the president's proposed health care plan and angry at what they consider reckless spending and high debt. Taken together, it could be the most toxic environment for Democrats since 1994, when the party lost 34 House incumbents and 54 seats altogether. Taiwan’s former president jailed for life: guilty of embezzling state fund  [09/12/09] "Chen Shui-bian, the former Taiwan president, was sentenced to life in prison for corruption on Friday, completing the fall from grace of the one-time champion of democratisation and human rights. Judge Tsai Shou-hsun gave Mr Chen, 59, the maximum sentence and fined him T$200m ($6.1m). His wife, Wu Shu-jen, was also convicted of corruption, given a life sentence and fined T$300m but will not have to go to prison because of her frail health. “One person’s greed has caused chaos throughout the whole country,” Judge Tsai said. The guilty verdict on charges of embezzling state funds, accepting construction kickbacks and money laundering is a remarkable come down for Mr Chen, the only opposition politician in an ethnic Chinese society to ever win election to lead government. 27-Year CIA Vet says Obama May be Afraid of the CIA ...   Former GOP Lawmaker Arrested After Ex-Fiancée Found Shot To Death [09/12/09] "State police charged a former GOP lawmaker on Friday with violating a protective order after his former girlfriend was found shot to death in downtown Lexington. Steve Nunn, who was being treated at The Medical Center of Bowling Green for undisclosed injuries, has not been charged with the slaying, said Lt. David Jude, a spokesman for the Kentucky State Police in Frankfort. He was listed in stable condition. "Our units are working with the Lexington Police Department to determine if there's any connection with Mr. Nunn in the homicide," Jude said. Jude said Nunn was found Friday morning in a Barren County cemetery, about 130 miles southwest of the scene of the shooting, and transported to the Bowling Green hospital to be treated for what he described as self-inflicted injuries. Barren County Sheriff Chris Eaton said Nunn slit his wrists. The Fayette County Coroner's Office says 29-year-old Amanda Ross was fatally shot in Lexington at 6:36 a.m. Friday. The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound and the death was being investigated as a homicide. ..."  

Justice Department Won't Prosecute Bush Official Who Lied To Congress Under Oath [09/11/09] "Attorney General Eric Holder has decided not to bring any criminal charges against a former Bush administration official who lawmakers said lied to them in sworn testimony. An inspector general's report found that Bradley Schlozman, the former head of the civil rights division, misled lawmakers in sworn testimony about whether he politicized hiring decisions. At his February confirmation hearing, Holder pledged he would review that decision to prosescute Schlozman when he took over the department and promised to strengthen and rebuild the civil rights division. Holder's decision was revealed in a letter sent to lawmakers on Friday. Sen. Major ruling against Ashcroft highlights evils of preventive detention  [ 09/07/09 ] "Yesterday -- in a very significant decision (.pdf) written by Bush-43-appointed federal judge Milan Smith and joined by a Reagan-appointed judge -- the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals allowed a lawsuit to proceed that was brought against John Ashcroft for the illegal and unconstitutional detention of American Muslims. The suit was brought by Abdullah al-Kidd, an American citizen of African-American descent who converted to Islam. Al-Kidd was arrested, detained under abusive conditions, and then had his movements and freedoms severely restricted for sixteen months despite no evidence that he had done anything wrong. The suit arises out of a policy established by Ashcroft of abusing the "material witness" statute, which authorizes the detention of key witnesses to a criminal case where it's likely they will be unavailable to testify in the absence of their pre-trial detention. Ashcroft used that statute as a pretext for arresting American Muslims where there was insufficient evidence to establish probable cause they had committed a crime (the standard required to justify their arrest). In other words, Ashcroft's DOJ would pretend that they wanted to detain Muslim citizens because they were "material witnesses" to a crime, when the real reason was that they suspected them of Terrorist connections and wanted to arrest and investigate them but lacked the evidence required by law to justify an arrest -- i.e., they wanted to "preventively detain" them in the absence of any criminal wrongdoing. The real significance of this case is that it highlights the dangers and evils of preventive detention -- an issue that will be front and center when Obama shortly presents his proposal for a preventive detention scheme, something he first advocated in May. What Ashcroft is accused of doing illegally is exactly the same thing Obama wants the legal power to do (except that Obama's powers would presumably apply to foreign nationals, not citizens): namely, order people imprisoned as Terrorist suspects -- "preventively detained" -- where there is insufficient evidence to prove they committed any crime ..."

Commentary: Preemptive Arrest [ 09/04/09 ] "A year after St. Paul police rounded up and arrested over 200 people who were planning to protest the Republican National Convention - but hadn't actually done anything yet - 27 plaintiffs filed a class action suit against the city on behalf of all those arrested. Police officers used pepper spray, non-lethal ammunition and horses against the protesters, none of whom was convicted of anything except not liking Republicans .... "The city has admitted that people were arrested preemptively in this park," said attorney Robert Kolstad. "They arrested them because they were afraid of what they might do in the future, which is a dangerous path for our government to take. Taken to its logical conclusion, what it means is that the government now believes that they can come to our houses and arrest us because they think that we might do something wrong. 'Stranger' Accused Of Slapping Crying Child In Store [ 09/04/09 ] "Police say a 61-year-old man annoyed with a crying 2-year-old girl at a suburban Atlanta Walmart slapped the child several times after warning the toddler's mother to keep her quiet. A police report says after the stranger hit the girl at least four times, he said: "See, I told you I would shut her up." Roger Stephens of Stone Mountain is charged with felony cruelty to children. It was unclear if he had an attorney and a telephone call to his home Wednesday was unanswered. Authorities say the girl and her mother were shopping Monday when the toddler began crying. WHO Admits to Releasing Pandemic Virus into Population via 'Mock-Up' Vaccines   [ 09/03/09 ] "The document on the WHO website linked below states that it is common procedure to release pandemic viruses into the population in order to get a jump ahead of the real pandemic, so as to fast track the vaccine for when it is needed. In Europe, some manufacturers have conducted advance studies using a so-called "mock-up" vaccine. Mock-up vaccines contain an active ingredient for an influenza virus that has not circulated recently in human populations and thus mimics the novelty of a pandemic virus. According to the website, “Such advance studies can greatly expedite regulatory approval ...."   Note: These people are insane.

Russia and China will not go along with further sanctions against Iran at the UN; The US and Israel understands that. What we may well be looking at is some kind of "October Surprise", where there is some kind of a false flag used to demonize Iran, and off the US and Israel will go on another military misadventure to neutralize yet another of Israel's "existential threats" in the region. And given its history of hubris, Israel may well do this, even though Russia and China have warned that such a confrontation may well lead to a new world war. And Russia has been very clear about which side they will be on, should such a confrontation occur.
