2000 SHOWS

Before I start I'd like to apologize for the awful photos below. I got this roll with a picture disk and it sucks! Don't bother getting the disk. It is a waste of $4, and if you really don't want to scan in your photos, spend an extra $6 to get the CD-ROM.

On with my report...

The Northwest Folklife Festival was fun this year. As always, great crafts and lots of food. I highly suggest going if you are in the area. Admission is $5 donation per adult, and there are activities for children (Children's museum and the "Children's Village" where there is a stage and hands-on activities), music, food, crafts for sale, and my favorite, the International Fountain where young and old alike run-around the water spouts. I'd play in the water too if I didn't have such a long ride home in the car! The kids LOVE it though!.

I looked at all the crafts/merchandise for sale, ate lunch, and watched 15 min of the Gamelan Degung Girijaya in the Alki Room. I would have watched the whole thing, but people were talking and annoying me, and my parents were ready to go. I took a couple of pictures... The first is of course the Space Needle (mostly to show you what a beautiful day it was), and the second is of the International Fountain. I have a better shot of inside the fountain where the kids are playing, but it is on the second roll - still in my camera.

The inaugural Seattle Roadster Show - March 11 & 12, 2000

I went with my parents to the show which was being held in the new Stadium Exhibition Center next to Safeco Field. I'm not really into cars, however, I enjoyed looking at all the of the cars that went from beautiful to bizzare, to classics, to... well, I don't really know what some of them were - but they were fun to check out.
My favorite part of the show was the arrival of Elvira. I got an autographed photo of her which I'll have to scan-in. This is one of the pics I took of her while standing in line.
Here are several pictures of cars from the show. The first two are of Elvira's car 1.) from the front next to a cardboard cut-out of her, and 2.) the interior: (click on a thumbnail to see large image)

I feel bad because "The Deuce" and Paul LeMat a.k.a. John Milner from "American Graffiti" were there for photos and autographs, and I didn't realize that a friend of mine LOVES that movie and wishes she knew about it. If I had known, I would have let her know and/or gotten her a autograph! Oh well, maybe next year! - Sorry Karen!

Be sure to come to the 2nd annual Seattle Roadster Show on March 15 - 18, 2001 if you're in town, and even slightly interested in this kind of stuff. P.S. We arrived at the show right when it was getting started, and there was still some parking left... I don't know what it would have looked like in another hour! My advice for 2001 - get there early!
